Dr Petra Bueskens is a Lecturer in Social Science within the School of Counselling at the Australian College of Applied Psychology (2013-) and worked previously as a Lecturer in Sociology and Gender Studies at The University of Melbourne and Deakin University (2002-2009). She has a BA (Hons.) from Murdoch University, a Graduate Diploma in Psychotherapy and Counselling from Federation University, and a PhD in Sociology from the University of Melbourne. Petra is the founder of PPMD Therapy and has worked in private practice in Melbourne and Daylesford, Australia since 2009. She is a researcher, writer and social commentator known for her work on motherhood, sexuality, gender and feminism. Petra lives with her partner and 3 children in Daylesford, Australia. Her first edited book titled Mothering and Psychoanalysis: Clinical, Sociological and Feminist Perspectives was published by Demeter Press in July 2014. Petra is the editor of the Psychotherapy and Counselling Journal of Australia (2013-), on the international editorial board of Studies in the Maternal (2014-) and the Journal of the Motherhood Initiative (2014-) and recently joined the board of Demeter Press (June 2014).
